STEP INTO THE 1930's OPEN COCKPITS OF THE US NAVY!

This gem is our newest acquisition from Cockpit USA- the prime supplier of authentic pilot jackets to the U.S. military. The quality, cut and details are superb. This is a classic reproduction of the jacket issued to US Naval aviators in the 1920s and '30s.

In the 1930's, for the first time, closed cockpit flight was becoming common, yet pilots had to leave their canopy open on take-offs and landings in case of emergencies where they could be extracted by deck crews from their cockpits. The Type 440 provided the comfort and protection they needed in these critical moments. 100% government spec goatskin has distinctive USN specified diamond shaped reinforcement elbow patches, a smooth nylon lining, concealed side entry pockets, smooth straight leather bottom with no knit elastic to bind and an inside chest pocket. Adjustable buttoned cuffs with zipper sleeve closure.

A tough, lightweight jacket and something a bit different from the typical A-2 or G-1. Proudly made in the U.S.A.
